A Moving Ceremony….
Many people associate Remembrance Day with the older generations in our society and it is certainly true that for many of them the day holds poignant and personal memories. But at Oakwood we believe it is just as important that the day be understood and marked by our young people. There are many lessons to be learned from history and understanding the significance of Remembering is important.
So on Tuesday we held a Remembrance Ceremony at school.
One of our pupils played Amazing Grace on his bagpipe’s, a very moving moment for everyone. Another pupil read a poem, and one of our younger pupils laid our poppy down while we all respected the 2 minute silence. A very moving occasion when all the school respectfully came together to remember the fallen.
