A special visitor during our outdoor lesson…

One of our pupils Tommy has a real love of birdwatching and has become particularly fond of a little robin that lives in our woodland area. During yesterday’s Forest lesson, the robin came remarkably close—even perching beside Tommy and eating from his hand.
It was a wonderful moment to capture and a lovely example of what outdoor learning can offer. Spending time in nature gives our pupils opportunities to follow their interests, develop patience and observation skills, and learn through real experiences beyond the classroom.
At Oakwood Community School, we are very fortunate to have an outdoor environment where moments like this can happen naturally—and we think this little robin has made a firm friend in Tommy!
