Christmas with a Peruvian Twist!
Here at Oakwood Community School, we encourage our pupils to be students of the world, learning about different cultures and drawing inspiration from far and wide. This year, our Christmas celebrations took a very special turn…
Instead of Santa’s reindeer, we welcomed some alpacas to join us for our Christmas lunch celebrations! Native to the Andes and known for their gentle, calm nature, the alpacas were the perfect visitors for our pupils to interact with during Forest School activities.
Their beautifully soft wool was a joy to stroke, and the calming effect they had on everyone was truly wonderful to see. They quickly became one of the stars of the day, creating moments of curiosity, connection, and calm.
The festivities didn’t stop there — pupils also enjoyed heading into Santa’s grotto, complete with festive treats kindly provided by the visiting HSBC team, adding even more magic to an already special day.
