Learning Practical Food Skills
As part of working towards their BTEC qualifications, Oakwood students have been developing key skills in food technology. This has been achieved by a series of hands-on, practical cooking sessions led by staff member Richard.
Our students have engaged in preparing a variety of dishes including flapjacks, eggs Benedict, BLTs, Welsh rarebit, and pizza. At the same time as developing practical skills they learn about nutrition, kitchen safety, and food presentation. Oakwood encourages all its students to build independence, explore their creativity, and gain valuable life skills that support both their education and wellbeing, and our Food Tech program illustrates this perfectly.
The added bonus is that we all get to share in some very tasty results!
