Textiles Spotlight at Oakwood

Recently one of our newest pupils worked 1:1 with our team to design and make a decorative cushion — from first print to final stitch! They explored block/screen printing to create a bold pattern, then added beadwork for texture and sparkle, carefully stitching along the motif to bring real depth and dimension. The mix of flat colour with raised embellishment gave a rich, tactile finish — and a unique, handcrafted result we’re all proud of.
Beyond the beautiful cushion, this project built confidence, fine-motor skills, patience and creative decision-making. Amazing work!
